AC MILAN 5-1 SIENA

Filippo Inzaghi scored a pair of goals, including the 300th of his career, to lead AC Milan to an easy 5-1 win over Siena at Artemio Franchi on Sunday.
Andrea Pirlo scored from the penalty spot after seven minutes and Inzaghi scored goal number 299 right before halftime to put Milan up two goals at the break.
Pato made it a three-goal game in the 55th minute before Massimo Maccarone pulled a goal back for the hosts, but Inzaghi's historic goal in the 71st minute restored Milan's three-goal lead, while Pato added another with 12 minutes to play.
The result helps Milan move to within five points of second-place Juventus, while the Rossoneri owns a six-point lead on fourth-place Genoa.
Milan didn't create a ton of chances in the first half, but they made the most of the openings they had.
Mathieu Flamini drew a penalty six minutes into the game on Siena's Jardim Brandao, and Pirlo stepped up and drilled the spot kick into the bottom left corner for his first goal of the season.
Siena had more chances in the half, but it was Milan that doubled its lead right before the break when David Beckham's corner was volleyed home by Inzaghi from the top of the six-yard box.
Pato then scored a wonderful goal from 35 yards as he found the bottom right corner, but Maccarone gave the hosts a bit of hope when he took a pass from Juan Camilo Zuniga at the top of the box and created enough space to roll the ball inside the right post.
However, Inzaghi snuffed out any chance of a comeback with his milestone goal, taking a pass from Pirlo inside the box on the right and turning the ball past goalkeeper Gianluca Curci at the near post.
The scoring was then capped off in the 78th minute when Ronaldinho's long pass was touched around the keeper by Pato and rolled into the empty net.
Problems for Christian Abbiati. During the match against Siena, the AC Milan goalkeeper crashed into teammate Favalli and suffered a knee injury. Dida replaced him.
His season is probably over. Abbiati had a distortion in the right knee with involvement of the ligaments. He will have another check up soon, but it will be difficult to see him on the pitch again this season.

Pippo Inzaghi was delighted with his brace in AC Milan's thumping of Siena yesterday.
“I feel as happy as a kid at Christmas, as I'm celebrating an achievement that fills me with pride,” he told Sky Italia.
“I thank all my teammates in every squad I've played for. Titles with your club are important, but these individual records also make you feel very special.
“Destiny is extraordinary, as I hadn't remembered until I read it in the papers this morning, but my first goal was also at Siena.”
Inzaghi has scored 300 goals in all competition during his long career, 110 of them in the Milan jersey.
“The most important goals were the ones in Athens for the Champions League Final against Liverpool. They are special along with the Club World Cup goals and the 2007 European Super Cup.”
Inzaghi also wished to thank Carlo Ancelotti and hopes he will remain with the Rossoneri for another season.

“I don't want to keep repeating myself on Ancelotti, otherwise it'll get pathetic, but the directors are wonderful and will make the right choice.
“We know that with him we have reached three Champions League Finals and have seen how difficult it is for teams to get there.
“As for today, we proved that when Milan get their players back from injury, this is a very competitive side.”

1st half is pretty much bullshit from us,although we score 2 goals we failed to play with conviction and seeing the creativity usually provided by Kaka faded is something very painful.2nd half is a different situation with much more creative move when the 2 creative head is being introduce by carletto.
Pato,Pippo,Kaka and Ronnie plays a vital part to secure the biggest win of the season.
Abbiati injury could harm us but seeing Dida's performence in friendlies and Uefa Cup this season,we can probably rely on him to guard the goal but he let in one goal thats symbolysed we have to prepared for a disasteres last part of the season with him at goal. The 2nd half form is much more convincing with Kaka and Ronnie introduction.Convincing at 2nd half but sleepy at 1st.

Just the win we needed to boost the players confidence,we almost forget that we weren't doing bad and still in the hunt for Champions League spot and everything except Abbiati injury is doing well.

GIANLUCA ZAMBROTTA:
“We knew that today’s game would have been tough because Siena have a very solid defence and so far in the league they suffered very few goals. We managed to score five and we are satisfied. Now we must continue like this. Already following the win against Atalanta, we had said that we wanted to go on the pitch with the same determination, we’re in a good moment and now we manage to be more concrete in more often.
“Pity about the injuries that Christian and Ricky suffered. For Abbiati we must wait for the results of the medical staff tomorrow, let’s hope it’s nothing serious. With regards to Kaka, it should be just a bruise.”
PAOLO MALDINI:
“The series of injuries that we have suffered this season is crazy. We’re also sorry for a player like Christian who has proven his worth and this injury arrived in a normal clash during the game. At first we just thought that it was a knock to his tibia, but then he felt pain to his knee. It’s a pity because Abbiati was having a great season. All of the team-mates care about him because he is a great champion.
“In the league we have consolidated the third place, we must only count on our strengths for the qualifications to the Champions League of next year, without speaking about other teams. Let’s just think only about ourselves.”
ALEXANDRE PATO:
“I’m happy for the team’s win today and for my goals, but I know that I must always do better and help Milan to reach the Champions League for next season. I compliment Inzaghi, who is an example for me, I must learn to stay a bit behind. Pippo is very good inside the penalty box, and I’m happy that today he reached the target of the three hundred goals as he really wanted it.
“After my goals, I embraced Ronaldinho and Emerson because they have always been close to me, they help me during training and my way of thanking them was to score and allow them to participate in my joy.”
FILIPPO INZAGHI:
“I’m happy that I reached the 300th goal as a professional. I received the applause of the coach and my team-mates, it was the cherry on the cake, but in reality it’s me who must thank them. It’s a nice target, but the cups won by Milan have another value.
“Against Siena I had scored my first goal 16 years ago and destiny wanted that today I score against Siena my 300th goal. I will make the entire squad sign my shirt and ball from today. I had prepared the shirt yesterday and I’m happy that I could use it today. I really want to dedicate this day to Abbiati for the injury that he suffered, but I think that he will return back on the pitch stronger than before.
“I also compliment Pato because he is an extraordinary player and give my good luck to Kaka because the entire team needs him.”

Agree with you Acu@Mohd,we are all sleeping in the first half..When Kaka step on the pitch all of the players feels his presence..
Great to see him and Ronnie finally fit

hmm.. I hope Dida steps up and becomes the Dida of the past with great instinctive saves. Abbiati is not the best goalkeeper but we all should agree that he's one of the better goalkeepers in Serie A. He was always dependable. it was our defense that let us down most of the time.

Great game last night. Our back line with the veterans was dependable. Pirlo and Becks all had great passes and plays. Flamini defended the ball well and even helped getting forward. I was dissapointed in Ambrosini. very quiet game for him.

Congrats Pippo! 300 goals! you're a legend! Congrats Pato! you WILL be a legend!

my only concern is why did Ancelotti risk Kaka? i think we should have played Ronnie before Kaka. But maybe if Kaka was not played the players would not have been inspired in the 2nd half. I wouldn't have risked Kaka though.

But Vit,don't you think Kaka is instrumental last night? He shows various strengh eventhough he's still not quite ready.
Great only at second half with a lot of easy chances coming our way but they didn't capitalised on it.
Good win by the way.

Abbiati was substituted early in the first-half of his team's 5-1 Serie A victory at Siena with a knee injury.

The Italian goalkeeper will undergo tests this week to confirm the extent of the problem, but it is thought Abbiati has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee.

If confirmed, the 31-year-old will be out of action for six months.

The Rossoneri, who are already without injured duo Gennaro Gattuso and Kakha Kaladze for the rest of the campaign, have been left reeling by another serious injury.

"The series of injuries we have had this season has been incredible," said captain Paolo Maldini. "I am saddened for a player like Christian, who has shown his value.

"At the begining we thought it was just a knock but then he felt pain in his knee. It's a real shame because Abbiati has had a great campaign so far."

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani can only look at the positives.

"Fortunately, we have a luxury reserve goalkeeper in Dida," he said. "With Dida we have won so much."

The Rossoneri travel to the San Paolo to meet Napoli next weekend, sitting in third place with an eight-point advantage over fourth-placed Genoa.

Screw C.Ron he sucks so much right now. haha.

Kaka's the best. then Messi, then Gerrard. i'm VERY BIASED though. =]

Yes Che, Kaka was instrumental. his presence lifted the team. but.. we can't rely on one player. we are a team. I think it would have been safer to play Ronnie first. then Kaka. a slight injury could turn into a season ending injury. and we all know we need Kaka for the important last games of the season.

what does everyone think about the reports saying we will raid the Inter camp of their unwanted players: Maxwell, Adriano, and Julio Cruz were the specific players pointed out.

Maxwell: decent LB who can play CB also. ok if he's CHEAP/FREE. Much better than Antonini anyway. Favali's getting too old too.

Julio Cruz: Useless. I have more faith in our old hero Sheva than him.

Adriano: to be honest i think we need him more than we need Ronaldinho. would be ok if he was super cheap/free. (we have Kaka, Gourcuff, Seedorf, AND Beckham for the trequartista role). Too bad he's AS LAZY as Ronnie (maybe even more lazy). Too bad Ancelotti isn't a disciplinarian either. That's what i like about Hiddink and Mourinho (like them or not). They demands discipline from everyone.
