AC MILAN VS REGGINA

AC Milan needed a Kaka second-half penalty to salvage a draw with Serie A bottom side Reggina in a tight game at the San Siro as they lost ground to neighbours Inter in the race for the Scudetto.
Kaka's second-half penalty was enough to grab a point for the Rossoneri after Reggina had taken the lead through former Milan forward Davide Di Gennaro.
It came as a relief for Carlo Ancelotti's men who had had to deal with a stubborn Reggina side, but that relief was tempered by the withdrawal of the Brazilian goalscorer shortly after he had scored from the spot.
On-loan midfielder David Beckham declared his desire to make his loan spell from LA Galaxy permanent earlier in the week and he lined up in an XI that included two changes from the 3-0 win over Lazio with Ronaldinho coming in for Clarence Seedorf
and Mathieu Flamini replacing Phillipe Senderos.

Ancelotti's side went into the match full of confidence after their win in Rome last week but knew they would have to be at their best to see off a Reggina side who had held Roma to a 1-1 stalemate at the Oreste Granillo.
Reggina started in a confident fashion and Francesco Cozza flashed a 40-yard free-kick in an early warning to Christian Abbiati in the Milan goal.
Flamini, filling in for the suspended Andrea Pirlo in the Milan midfield, then tried his luck from distance but Reggina keeper Andrea Campagnolo managed to parry his effort.
Kaka had a quiet first opening 10 minutes but he suddenly sprung into life in the 14th minute when he took a looping ball down on his chest before firing a wicked volley which brushed Andrea Campagnolo's right-hand post.

Di Gennaro had come through the youth ranks at Milan before being sold to Genoa and he showed the San Siro what he was capable of when he called Abbiati into making a superb save soon after.
Abbiati was powerless to stop Di Gennaro on 33 minutes, however, when the striker latched onto Bernardo Corradi's cross to fire a low left-foot drive into the bottom right hand corner to give the away side the lead.
Ancelotti ordered his men forward and Ronaldinho almost gave him an instant response but his curling shot from the edge of the box brushed a post.
The Brazilian threatened just after the break when he aimed a 25-yard shot at goal but Campagnolo scrambled across his box to tip it around the right post.

Kaka and Alexandre Pato started to look threatening up front for Milan and the former world player of the year saw his close-range shot saved by Campagnolo just before the hour.
Ancelotti threw on Seedorf to try to breathe some life into his side and he thought the move had paid off when the Dutchman slotted home after Kaka had hit the post but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Beckham had put an industrious performance in the Milan midfield and his pin-point cross found Paolo Maldini but the veteran defender could only head straight at Campagnolo from close range.
The Milan fans started getting frustrated with their side and Ancelotti responded by replacing the ineffective Ronaldinho with Filippo Inzaghi.
Their anger turned to relief just after the hour when Matej Krajcik upended Pato in the box and Kaka slotted the spot kick home to put Milan on terms.
Inzaghi wasted several chances laid on to him by Beckham late on and Milan had to settle for a draw that leaves them eight points behind Inter ahead of next weekend's Milan derby.

Reports say that Kaka's foot injury during the match will definitely exclude him from the Brazil-Italy match on the 10th. The worse news is that he might ALSO MISS the Inter match this weekend.

Bonera will also miss the derby due to his yellow card.

Flamini played well. our defense was only DECENT, nothing spectacular.
Ambrosini was dissapointing. Some days he plays great others not great..just like Seedorf. There needs to be consistency in form.

Ronaldinho needs to take his performance to a higher level..more importantly because Kaka might be missing.

We MUST beat Inter or kiss the Scudetto goodbye.

Im sorry of not posting this Milan vs Reggina earlier,an unexpected event have occurred and i didn't have a chance to find a time to go online..

Anonymous said...

What fuck is going on with us?,again no penetration at all from the wingbacks and the midfields.God,we should have won this match easily but we have let the chance to cut Inter lead go away.More Reggina is a bullshit team,we have to smash them down not be friend with them and settle for a draw.

Anonymous said...

Like we always disscuss,we don't have good pace to scare the opposite team, whether its at home or away they will try to exploit the weakness spot of Milan.Ronnie is doing nothing and Kaka is injured, next week the Milan derby will be a scary one for us.

Rokku said...

We have a tendency of not respecting lower club and it have cost us dearly this time...
when we face a bigger opponent we'll go with coutious approach...
againts the lesser team we take them lightly as what we have demostrated this whole season...
fuck..and fuck...

Anonymous said...

owh..Acu be patient, don't let anyone get injured like yesterday..hahaha.
i try monitor our midfield performence last saturday.
we try to works with the formation that doesn't fit us.
we only won by penalty.
nothing more.

Rokku said...

Helmi...
it is very frustrating to see Milan only mange to draw with this kind of team...
no insult to reggina but we should take the chance to close the gap...
not making it impossible...

Anonymous said...

IM FRUSTRATED ABOUT HOW WE APPOROACH THE GAME.
HOW WELL WE DID LAST SATURDAY?.
WILL IT BE A DIFFERENT IF WE PLAY THE YOUNG GUN RATHER THAN THE OFF FORM VETERAN?.
TOTALLY THIS SEASON HAVE SHOWN MILAN IS GETTING SLOWER AND WEAKER BY THE MINUTES.

Rokku said...

Yes we frustrated by this...
but at the end of the day,the club and player it self need to take the initiative to improve the form,stamina..etc..
to let the title go this season is not an option...
we need to fought till the end and confirm the automatic qualification to the UCL...

Rokku said...

Milan have confirmed that Kaka will be out from the Milano derby...

Anonymous said...

Kaka out
Milan Passed out..

Anonymous said...

Man..Look at the our starting line up for the next game,it is scary..
Not for Inter but for us the Fan..
We gonna lose..
Unless we park the bus infront of the goal..

Anonymous said...

Well Said Che Mamat,haha
We are not a one man team but we do experiance difficulty when Kaka is out.

Anonymous said...

There's still hope. There are still many games left. I think the best thing for Ancelotti to do is play a 4-3-1-2 to surprise Inter since everyone knows Milan always plays 4-3-2-1 and Mourinho might already have a strategy against it..i think he will attack down the wings against us with players like Maicon and Figo.

-------Abbiati-------
Zambro-Maldini-Favali-Janku
Becks - Pirlo - Flamini
-----Ronaldinho-----
--Inzaghi---Pato----

Bonera is suspended but reports say Nesta might be able to play. I don't know about risking Nesta though.. if you play a non 100% fit player you risk an even more serious injury to develop and Nesta might be out again..

I don't want to play Seedorf and Ambrosini anymore. they're not consistent enough.

Ronaldinho needs to be at his BEST fast.

there are still 14 matches left after the derby. so don't give up hope guys!

Anonymous said...

with the formation above Becks will have the options to cross to Ronnie who can make a play for Pato or Inzaghi or Becks can cross to Inzaghi directly.

Flamini has new confidence and can cover the left flank while Pato uses his pace down that side for a goal or a set-up Inzaghi or Ronnie.

The match will depend mostly on Ronaldinho he needs to become the heart of Milan like Kaka is.
Maldini and Favali will try their best because they are veterans of Milan and will HATE to lose to Inter. Zambro and Janku will also be reliable. It all depends on Ronnie i think.

Rokku said...

Exactly like what i have in mind vit...
2 strikers and we take the game to Inter...
there's nothing to afraid about Inter anyway...

But Carletto will not going to start Flamini...
he will always go with Ambro...
Flamini will add the pace for us...
not really good with ball at his foot but like what u said...he is the new Gattuso for us...
not reliable to score,provide etc...
but effective in preventing attacks...

For me...
zambrotta have been the best defender so far along side Maldini...
Favalli have been awesome too...
he got pick over Bonera and sanderos...
good pace and he have the courage to make tackle because he have experiance...
unlike the young players like bonera and sanderos...
still what amaze me about Favalli is his pace...
good combination with Paolo....

Dont lose faith...
Yes We Can......

Anonymous said...

2 strikers will add the more attention from the Inter defenders to control them and Ronnie probably going to be the determine factor.
Acu,I agree with Vit in Ambro case.
He is not doing fine at the moment, the only time i have seen him do well is when Gattuso is in the squad.

Anonymous said...

Inter is very good at strategise their gameplan, under Mourinho Inter look to be more attacking than any Serie A team.

Anonymous said...

Mourinho loves to play his 4-3-3 style (which is very attack oriented) but he also plays 4-4-2 depending on the players available.

The key for us defeating them is possession in the midfield and well timed counter-attacks. Possession won't be a problem if Becks and Pirlo still play like they do and with some cover from Flamini.

The defense should be reliable with the veterans playing.

Our counter-attack will be the crucial point. We all know Pato has pace and Inzaghi can finish at crucial moments.. it will all depend on Ronaldinho's creativity and playmaking up front.

Anonymous said...

The objective is not to waiting for what inter might throw to us,but what we can do to break their defense.
we have so many talented replacement for Kaka but all of them is being loan to other club and what we have right at Milan now is not capable to work the Kaka factor while he's out injured.

Anonymous said...

Wait a minutes,Inter can't beat us.It just not going to happenned.
Break their Midfields passes and start pressing them until they lose their concentration.
It wasn't easy though, but Inter is superbly syncronise in their passes so beware of that.

Rokku said...

For me go with..

---------------ABBIATI-----------------------
ZAMBRO-----MALDINI--FAVALLI------JANKU
------------AMBROSINI-----------------------
BECKHAM-----------------------PIRLO------
PATO--------------------------RONALDINHO
-------------PIPPO------------------------

Anonymous said...

so you'll play a 4-3-3 against Inter's 4-3-3 Mohd? hehehe.. that would be an interesting free flowing match that would produce multiple goals from both sides. :)

but just like Ancelotti would rather start Ambrosini over Flamini, I don't think he'll play a 4-3-3. :(

Well the derby should be fun since Milan always takes it seriously.
But why can't we take "easier" teams seriously? Why only a draw with Reggina? Why only a draw with Portsmouth in UEFA cup? Why do we lose to lower half table Serie A teams at home?!?!

we need to regain the tenacity of the past Milan when we were known as "The Invincibles" and ALL clubs feared us.

Rokku said...

Yup vit...
we dont take the weaker opponent seriously...
we always play half hearted againts lower league side...
the different is they take us seriously...haha
when the weaker side face the similar ability team, they dont have the same concentration as when they face team like Milan...

Rokku said...

againts us...
they tend to defense and hit us at the counter attack...
but they do it carefully...
we view team like reggina as they will not pose treat to us....

Anonymous said...

We have the strengh to win everything but the players mentality is not focus towards winning every match regardless the importantness of the tie itself,as the result we won the big trophy like the UCL but failed to won the Serie A.
Who we should blame?
For me everybody have to shoulder the responsibility.

Anonymous said...

Chances to win the derby is 50-50.
Lets Attack like Vit and Acu suggested.
We are not afraid of them.
Forza Milan

Anonymous said...

I agree Azmus. Everyone needs to shoulder the responsibility. It's unfair just to blame Ancelotti and it's also unfair just to blame our players. Look what's happening in the English Premiere League where many clubs just blame managers or players..everything's a disaster.

I know Milan will pull through because we stick together like family until the end. Our Milan family just needs extra motivation lately.

That's right Wawarinka! WE'RE NOT AFRAID!!! FORZA MILAN!

Rokku said...

We have not been quick in recent time,I mean we dont have much pace to break trough the opponent defense...

Without Kaka we will experiance the difficulty to push Inter defense to their own box,to make Inter play a slower and a coutious game,we have to pressure Inter everytime they got the ball in their possesion...

Im not saying that Milan have to defend and defend but we need to wisely prepared the counter attacking plan we might have in this game...
Long pass style might work for us,the important thing is the midfielder selection....
The midfields will play a big part for me,we dont have the pace at the midfield...
and with Kaka out,we have to play Jankulovski at left wing to supply the crosses....

The Becks and Janku Factor is vital for us to at least not losing this game...

Anonymous said...

Yup,play Janku at leftwing will gave us the pace at midfield..
The combination of Pirlo,Becks,Janku and Ronnie will see us playing different Philosopyh all together..
Like Acu said, without Kaka we will suffer in term of pace and penetration because Inter have brilliant defensive midfield and defender..
They put a good show every match so far..

Chivu and cordoba at central defend is not easy to penetrate..
the pace of Maxwell and Maicon is scary, and more their cross is perfect..
when it reach the Zlatan and Adriano, only God can saves us..

The match commentator in the brazil vs italy last night said the Milan derby is the best derby in the world..haha
If we think again he is right to say that because there no Derby bigger than this one.
Espanyol vs Barcelona(bullshit)
Liverpool vs Everton(human shit)
Real Madrid vs Athletico Madrid(bear shit)
etc....
all the derby except Milan derby is a shit..haha

Rokku said...

hell yeah helmi....hahahaha...
but we going to crush inter to their feet..

Anonymous said...

New reports say Kaka will be available for the Derby. Playing him at less than 100% fitness would be a harmful for him and the team though.

Did anyone see the Brazil vs Italy friendly last night?

Good news: Ronaldinho played well; he was very creative and skillful the whole 90 minutes and shows that he still has a lot to offer. Pato didn't really have a chance to play but he seemed ok.

Bad news: Pirlo and Zambrotta played horrible. Pirlo gave away the ball far too much and Zambrotta just looked unsettled.

They were both at fault for Robinho's exceptional solo goal...but maybe this will encourage them to try their HARDEST for the derby in order to REDEEM themselves.

final score: Brazil 2 (Elano & Robinho) - Italy 0

Rokku said...

I have watch it Vit...
very dissapointing....
im the biggest Italy fan too...
but anyway i think we played well...
grosso scored but the stupid lines man said he is offside....
Cannavaro is doing well...
zambrotta too...
but its a lil bit for him because he have to covered Marcelo and Ronnie at the right side...

Brazil in other hand have been truly breath taking...
superb passing game...
like u said Ronnie did alright and should play vital part for the derby...

Rokku said...

Vit the overdepndent on certain players have been Carletto's habit...
if u still remember, when Sheva is our best player he over used him...
sheva got injured when he got a hamstring problem but Carletto still insist on playing him in the 2nd half of one serie a game back before sheva moves to chelsea...
and know kaka have to play eventhough he is not in good condition to play....
for me...
dont start him or even played him at 2nd half...

Anonymous said...

I agree Mohd. He's overdependent on certain players.
We should not play Kaka. Let him recover fully or else he might get injured for a long long time just like Nesta.

I think Ronnie can handle the pressure of taking Kaka's place while Ricky recovers. But this is why we should bring Gourcuff back..so we have options.

if we look at the two "favorites" in the UEFA Champions League right now (Barca & ManU) they have SO MANY OPTIONS in their squad. We do also..but they're all out on loan.. hahahaha

what do you guys think about the new rumor that Ancelotti will go to Chelsea in the summer while Rijkaard will coach us next season?

Rijkaard plays a 4-3-3 in Barca.. i don't know how Milan are going to play 4-3-3. I hope Rijkaard plays 4-2-3-1. hehe

Anonymous said...

No way Rijkaard will do a better job than Carletto, but there's a rumors about it.
For me its a pure rumors.
Rijkaard is a full attacking coach while Carletto is a techtical coach.
For Italian team techtical coach is better than somebody like Rijkaard.
Another thing is the Ronnie bust up with Rijkaard at barca if u guys still remember it..
No truth to this rumors..

Anonymous said...

Rijkaard
1.Good attacking coach
2.poor man management skills(I mean players)
3.Invented the 4-3-3 Barca style(Where Ronnie who is Right footed playing at left forward and Messi who is Left footed playing at Right Forward and both of them need to cut inside when attacking.Creating a three attacking players)

Ancelotti
1.All around coach
2.Like a Friends to all Milan's players
3.Stupid in relying on veterans and let the best young players go with giving them apporiate chance to represent the team.

Anonymous said...

Nice summary on their coaching skills Don,What the heck..
just gave Rijkaard an opputunity to coach us,surely he have learn from his Barca mistake.
Look at guardiola right now,he is continuing Rijkaard philosophy.
Its not his real techtics anyway.

Anonymous said...

Correction..
3.Stupid in relying on veterans and let the best young players go without giving them apporiate chance to represent the team.

Rokku said...

Hm...
I have heard this rumors at Football Focus when john dykes say that Rijkaard might take Carletto job and Carletto to go and coach chelsea....
First like Shebby said....
chelsea is full of veterans just like us....
that means Carletto is jumping from tiger mouth straight to a lion mouth...
no change at all....
Ambrahamovic is begining to be like Berlusconi rite now....hahaha...
how much money that Big Phil have splurge at chelsea???
Nada....hahahaha....

For me there's absolute no truth in it....
Carletto have said that he would like to coach a national team not another club.....
i think that will be a great switch in is coaching career....

Don....
Great point....
who is your pick then???
hahaha....

Anonymous said...

Haha you watch football focus also Mohd? I wish they talked more about other leagues...not just the English League. I'm so frustrated that Serie A doesn't get much coverage here in the Philippines.

I don't like it when people say this league is the best when they only watch 1 league. Watch all the top leagues THEN make a proper judgement. For me Serie A is the best, then La Liga, then EPL.

anyways.. sorry for the off topic.

You made a great summary Don. (thumbsup) And I also agree with Wawarinka when he says that it's just rumors. Also good point Hell Me that Guardiola is only using Rijkaard's philosophy.

For me:
To be honest.. i can't see anyone who's better for Milan than Ancelotti. His only problem is that he relies too much on our veterans.

I admire Guss Hiddink though. He improved so many "ok" sides. PSV Eindhoven champs, South Korea reaching the WC02 semis, Australia doing well in Asia, and lets not forget Russia at Euro 08. They shut down the amazing Netherlands team who dominated during group stages.

I remember him playing S. Korea in a 3-6-1 formation with great success in WC02..so he knows how to experiment.
Also he used his head when facing the Dutch in Euro08. He totally shut down Robben, Van Persie, and Kuyt in attack through his strategy with Russia.. so he's also a tactician.

Anonymous said...

Acu I will pick Fatih Terim the coach of Turkey..He have good experiance with us before right??
Gave him another chance to coach us,perhaps we will see better result this time.

Rokku said...

hahaha...Vit...
I like watching football focus when a big event like the sacking of scolari the appointment of hiddink is being discuss...
but i hate it when they talk about the F.A cup or the barclays premier league and anything that have connection with the BPL...

For me there's 3 top coach that surely will change any club or national teams fate...
the best is Fabio Capello...
stupid real madrid calling him not entertaining enough for them...
and the one who makes the decision to sack him is the board director who have never played football before...
look at him at england rite now...
what a team england have been under him...
england got beaten againts spain but it was not his first team...
he is trying the young players at international level....
very strict coach...
drop becks when he dont play well....
and bring him back when he regain his form...

2nd is Guss Hiddink...
good organiser of any formation....
he almost humiliate Milan when we face his PSV side....
he didn't have great players at PSV but he made that team looks worldclass...
lucky we have Shevchenko in that Match....hahaha...
like Vit said...
he always accomplish something great when he coach any side, whether its a national or club...
if Carletto does go...
he is the best replacement....
but he might not like our transfer policy...huhuhu...

3rd is Carlo Ancelotti....
the best tactician u can ever have....
I think a lot of great coach will experiance difficulty when they have the kind of players at Milan rite now but not him...
he bring the best out of each players and unite them as a team....
The prob of too many veterans is not his fault...
berlusconi needs to invest in young players...
and i personally think we have all the best young player rite now...
all the youth Carletto and Leornardo have bring is the best at the club at italy or brazil...
bring back gourcuff and we will have talented youth ready to take Seedorf,Maldini Etc place in the team....
next year i hope a lot of our veteran will retire and open the way for the youth to penetrate the team first team...

Rokku said...

Vit....
Gourcuff looks impressive in the France vs Argentina....
the problem is he playing as Kaka for France....
But he shows maturity that i dont with hi at Milan....
i saw him crossing using his left foot and the ball curls!!!,what a foot he have...
still he desperately wanted to makes a statement to the world about his ability and failed to play calmly at his position....
trying too much to looks like the new zidane with backpass and all sort of skill move....
I dont see any problem for Carletto to straightly putting him at the best eleven at Milan next season....
hope he comeback....
we need his vision to expell seedorf from the team....

Anonymous said...

Agree with Vit and Acu.
Guss Hiddink is the best replacement for Carletto, but he have denied interested in Chelsea job..
Lucky for us.
I watch France Vs Argentina too..
Gourcuff is trying too much to looks like he is working hard for France..
He did do well and provide a lot of chances for Henry and Anelka, hopefully he return to Milan.
He still a prospect for the future for us.

Leonardo To Replace Carlo Ancelotti At Milan - Report
Reports are rife with speculation that Milan are planning early in case their coach jumps on Chelsea's ship...

Carlo Ancelotti could leave Milan at the end of the season, and former midfielder Leonardo is poised to take his place on the Rossoneri’s bench.

The Italian coach is being linked with a summer move to Chelsea and, according to Sportmediaset, he will be replaced by the Brazilian.

Leonardo has been taking coaching lessons and the club are already planning early to ensure that there is no gap should the Blues prise Ancelotti away from the San Siro.

Reports claim Roman Abramovich is lining up a mega deal to convince the Italian to leave Milan and head to London. Many will remember Ancelotti's meeting with the Russian tycoon in the summer. It is believed the ball started to roll in Ancelotti’s mind then.

Leonardo has also hinted at his ambition and Sportmediaset quote him as saying, "I am studying to coach Milan."

The Brazilian's past with the Rossoneri and his close ties with the club have seen him become the ideal candidate in president Adriano Galliani's eyes.

However, such a dramatic move could prove fatal for the club as Leonardo does not have experience at the highest levels. Milan expect rapid success on every front and the Brazilian may not guarantee this.
